1970 Dodge Dart Swinger
Owner: Robert Dunbar
Spanish Fort, AL.

Before Completion

This is where it started.

Out with the 318 with some help from Todd's daughter, Mary.

For the 1st year or so we were content with just the front being done, a rebuilt 318 and drum brakes. Then we decided to fix the rest of the body, leave the roof alone and finish the bottom of the car. And that's it. Riiight!

The body work was done and we decided long ago to leave the bottom of the car painted for shows.

All along I'd been working on a little 340-6pack motor and Todd said, "Why don't we put it in the Dart?" Why not? We then upgraded to 11" drum brakes in the rear and B-body discs in the front, changed the gear. Now, let's have fun!

At this point we decided we are going to drive this puppy. So the pretty orange bottom will not stay so pretty long with road chips and dings. Pull all the stuff back off the bottom and spray it with Speedliner. Since you can, tint the Speedliner, we decided to spray the trunk for show purposes and some insulation.

After Completion

Heck with it, let's finish it and drive it. Motor installed, TTI headers, 2 1/2" exhaust,, custom white interior - built by Legendary Interiors, new bumpers, the list goes on...

Current Status:

Finished at last! Ready to race and show.
History: 3 years ago we decided we wanted a rolling demo for our business. Something we could demo at car shows, etc... This car has seen quite a few shows throughout the Eastern seaboard and Southeast in various stages of restoration. Including Car Craft Nationals in Panama City, FL, Mopar Nationals in Columbus, OH, Mopars @ Big Daddy's in Ocala, FL, and All Mopar Southern Nationals in Reynolds, GA, to name a few.

Comments:

We had a blast driving the car for the summer, Mr. Robert Dunbar is the proud new owner, and is enjoying it now! Look for us to start the Camaro soon.
